Professional Song Mixing Prices
Professional Mixing from €300 per song
Standard Mix — €300 including VAT
Our standard mixing rate applies to songs up to approximately 40 tracks and 6 minutes in length, supplied fully recorded, edited and ready for mixing.
What’s Included
Your song will be professionally mixed to a commercial release standard, with careful attention to balance, clarity, dynamics, depth, impact and the overall musical feel of the recording.
The aim is a finished mix that translates confidently across different listening systems and is ready for professional mastering and commercial release.
- Up to 3 rounds of mix revisions
- High-resolution WAV final mix
- Instrumental and performance versions where required
- Final files prepared for mastering or release
Mixing Prices for Larger Sessions
Not every song requires the same amount of mixing time. A well-prepared 25-track recording can require considerably less work than a production containing 80, 100 or more individual tracks.
Our pricing reflects the amount of work involved while keeping the cost straightforward:
- Up to approximately 40 tracks / up to 6 minutes — €300
- Approximately 41–80 tracks / up to 6 minutes — €400
- Approximately 81–120 tracks / up to 6 minutes — €500
- Over 120 tracks, songs longer than 6 minutes or unusually complex sessions — Contact us for a quote
All prices include VAT and three rounds of mix revisions.
Track counts are intended as a guide rather than a rigid rule. We will review your project before mixing begins and confirm the price with you in advance.
Analogue & Digital Mixing
The Best Tools for Your Music
At Bluebird Studios, we combine the flexibility and precision of modern digital mixing with access to a carefully selected collection of professional analogue EQ, compression and outboard equipment.
Plugins and digital processing are an important part of modern music production and an important part of how we work. Alongside these tools, Bluebird offers the option of taking individual tracks, instrument groups and the stereo mix outside the computer and processing them through real analogue hardware.
Our mixing setup includes equipment from some of the most respected names in professional audio, including API, SSL, Neve, Rupert Neve Designs, Tube-Tech, Vertigo Sound, Crane Song, Summit Audio, Universal Audio, Focusrite, SPL, Buzz Audio and Anamod.
This gives us an extensive choice of analogue EQ, compression, valve and solid-state processing to draw from when shaping a mix. Our analogue equipment includes the API 2500 and SSL THE BUS+ stereo compressors, alongside EQ from API, Rupert Neve Designs, Tube-Tech, Vertigo Sound and Summit Audio, as well as a wide selection of additional analogue dynamics and channel processing.
The benefit isn’t simply that the equipment is analogue. Each piece has its own characteristics and gives us another option when we’re looking for the right sound for a vocal, drums, bass, guitars, individual instruments or the overall mix.
Analogue processing can be extremely subtle or used more creatively — from gentle tonal shaping and dynamics control to adding character, harmonic colour, texture, weight and saturation.
It doesn’t mean every track needs analogue processing, and it doesn’t mean analogue is automatically better than digital. The advantage is having both available.
The choice between analogue hardware, digital processing or a combination of the two is simply part of the mixing process. What matters is choosing the right tools for the music and knowing how and when to use them.
For artists and producers, this means your mix isn’t restricted to one way of working. We can draw from both a modern digital mixing environment and Bluebird’s extensive collection of professional analogue equipment to find the approach that works best for your music.
Online & Remote Mixing Service
You don’t have to record at Bluebird Studios to have your music mixed here.
Our online mixing service allows artists and producers to send us recordings from anywhere in Ireland, the UK or internationally.
Once your recording and production are complete, send us your rough mix along with some information about the project. We’ll listen to the track, discuss what you’re looking for and confirm the cost before you send the full multitrack session.
Once the project is underway, mixes and revisions can all be exchanged online.
Experience Matters
Equipment is important, but professional mixing is ultimately about the decisions made by the person using it.
A mix involves thousands of small judgements — balance, dynamics, EQ, space, effects, automation, tone and knowing which elements of the recording should command the listener’s attention.
Just as importantly, experience helps identify when something doesn’t need processing.
After more than 30 years working professionally with musicians and audio, Declan brings that experience to every Bluebird mix.
The objective isn’t to impose a particular “Bluebird sound” on every recording. It’s to understand the artist, the production and what the song is trying to achieve — and use the studio and our experience to help get it there.
What’s Included in Professional Mixing?
Your recording is treated as an individual production rather than simply being passed through a predetermined processing chain.
Depending on the music, the mixing process can include:
- Detailed level and balance work
- EQ and dynamics processing
- Analogue EQ and compression
- Analogue saturation and tape-style processing using dedicated hardware
- Digital processing where appropriate
- Reverb, delay and effects
- Detailed mix automation
- Stereo mix processing
- Preparation of the final high-resolution mix
- The combination of analogue and digital processing is chosen according to what works for the individual recording.
Three Mix Revisions Included
Getting the mix right is important, which is why three rounds of revisions are included in the price.
After receiving your mix, you can send us a list of adjustments you’d like made. These might include changes to vocal or instrument levels, effects, balances or other reasonable adjustments to the existing mix.
Three rounds gives plenty of opportunity to refine the mix together without charging you for every small adjustment.
Newly recorded parts, major production changes or substantial editing requested after mixing has begun are not considered mix revisions and may require an additional charge.
Any additional cost will always be discussed and agreed with you before the work is carried out.
Editing, Vocal Tuning & Additional Production
Our mixing prices assume that the recording and production of your song are complete and that the tracks supplied are edited and ready to mix.
Additional work such as extensive:
- Vocal tuning
- Vocal comping
- Drum or instrument timing correction
- Audio editing
- Noise repair or restoration
- Replacement of recorded parts
- Additional production
- is not included in the standard mixing price.
If your recording needs some additional work before or during the mix, that’s not a problem. We’ll discuss what’s required and agree any additional cost with you before carrying out the work.
EP & Album Mixing
Planning to mix an entire EP or album?
Once we’ve established the sound and direction of a project, there can often be efficiencies when mixing several songs from the same recording sessions.
For larger projects, contact us with some information about the number of songs and the sessions involved and we can provide a project price for your EP or album.
